OVERVIEW OF SPECIES ASSOCIATED WITH CLANS AND SOCIETIES EXPLORED
IN ANCESTRAL AIRS

The intimate propensities of the clans and societies developed for Ancestral Airs have one thing in common-–-the plants indigenous to the British Isles. These species clearly showed me the interconnectedness of the Mesolithic world as I imagined it.

The Compendium and the formulations that follow broaden the overall field to include the 30 properties by which I have cataloged the species. It is my contention that, no matter how specialized, each clan’s and society’s medicine was impeccably balanced with supporting species based on habitat, animal affiliations or any number of unifying forces including the tribe’s entire domain.

I remain convinced that every object contained the prayers and idiosyncrasies of the species from which they were rendered or were subordinate to the object's creation. One can reason that this would have to be true of all rituals and interventions as well, where species were chosen for their specific qualities. The spiritual implication of this assertion is the foundation for Ancestral Airs.

The Overview allows one to select a specific clan’s medicine and examine it in depth by referring to the entries in the body of the Compendium. In many instances substitutes can conceivably be made according to the practitioner’s needs and the depth of his or her understanding.
